Red-eyed tree frogs come from the rainforests of Central America, where spring is eternal. They are definitely one of the more beautiful species of frogs. The red-eyed tree frog’s image is often used to promote the cause of saving the world’s rainforests.

Spring flowers from my garden [inspired this quilt]! Daffodils, narcissi, magnolias, lilacs, tulips, and blossoms from trillium on a background of lilac-colored silk, reminiscent of Easter, make up my “Spring Revival” and cast off the dull cloak of winter.

I am fortunate enough to live in a rural area in Southern Oregon that is on the migration route for many species of birds. The egrets arrive in early spring and are often seen in the fields and wetlands. My goal was to create an art quilt using fabrics, inks, and threads that resembles a watercolor painting.

Crocus blossoms provide hope and reassurance of warmer and more colorful days ahead when they push their way up through the snow! Their arrival marks the end of our dark winter and heralds the onset of spring.

This quilt is the fourth in my series of barn animals. I love visiting local ranches here in Northwest Colorado in the springtime to meet all of the new arrivals. I love the dirt on his nose!

I love the process of finding the perfect fabrics to recreate the scene, then bringing it to life with threadwork and quilting. Original photo and rock cairn by husband Roy. The trail was blazed by our song Charlie, who will receive the quilt.
